Here is a one week circle tour of Israel.
Day 1 TEL AVIV
Arrival at Ben Gurion airport. Meet and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 CAESAREA/MEGIDDO/HAIFA
After breakfast, depart Tel Aviv and drive north along the
Mediterranean Coast, via Netanya, to Caesarea, once the Roman
capital of the Holy land, to see excavations of aqueduct and the
restored amphitheater. Continue to Megiddo to see the
excavations of Solomon's stables and 20 layers of civilization,
continue on to Haifa for overnight.
Day 3 HAIFA/AKKO/SAFED/GOLAN HEIGHTS/SEA OF GALILEE/TIBERIAS
Tour of Haifa, drive to the summit of Mount Carmel for a
panoramic view of Haifa Bay and Western Galilee. Continue to the
golden-domed Bahai Shrine to visit the Persian Gardens. Drive to
Akko to visit the crypt of St. John and the underground crusader
city. On to Safed, center of Jewish mysticism to visit ancient
synagogue and artists colony. Then to the Golan Heights to see
former Syrian Bunkers, Kuneitra and the town of Katzrin. Drive
along the shores of the Sea of Galilee to Tiberias for
overnight.
Day 4 CAPERNAUM/NAZARETH/BEIT ALPHA/BEIT SHE'AN/JERICHO/JERUSALEM
After breakfast visit the Synagogue of Hamat in Tiberias, then
drive to Capernaum (site of Jesus' ministry) Continue to
Nazareth to visit the Church of Annunciation. Proceed to Beit
Alpha with mosaic floor and to Beit She'an excavations, then
south along the Jordan river Valley, to Jericho - the world's
oldest continuously inhabited city and up through the Judean
wilderness to Jerusalem.
Day 5 JERUSALEM/BETHLEHEM
Drive to Mount Zion to visit the tomb of King David and the room
of the Last Supper. Enter the Old City and walk through the
renovated Jewish Quarter, the roman Cardo, the Herodian Quarter
and the Western Wall. Walk along the Via Dolorosa to the church
of the Holy Sepulchre. Drive to Mount Scopus and then to the
Mount of Olives. Continue to Bethlehem to visit Rachel's Tomb
and the church of the Nativity. Return to Jerusalem for
overnight.
Day 6 JERUSALEM
Drive to the Hadassah Medical Center to see Marc Chagall's
stained glass windows. Continue to the Yad Vashem Holocaust
memorial, to the Model of Jerusalem from the second Temple
period, and to the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls
exhibited in the Shrine of the Book. Drive past the Knesset
(Israel's Parliament) and the Givat Ram Campus of the Hebrew
University.
Day 7 DEAD SEA/QUMRAN/MASSADA
Drive down to the Dead Sea, lowest point on earth. Visit the
Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and
south along the shoes of the Dead Sea, past the Oasis of Ein
Gedi, to Massada, ascend and descent by cable car to visit the
excavations of this famous fortress. Return to Jerusalem.
Day 8 TEL AVIV
Day at leisure until transfer back to Tel Aviv for departure
flight.
This tour of Israel is available on a
