morning departure for 40-minute drive to the Belize Zoo where
you will view over 100 species of animals. Continuation drive
with lunch stop at local restaurant followed by tour of
Xunantunich, "Maiden on the Rock", the largest archaeological
site in the Belize River Valley. Xunantunich's most prominent
structure is El Castillo, a partially excavated pyramid rising
to over 130 feet. From the top enjoy a panoramic view of Belize
and distant Guatemala. Overnight at your hotel in the Cayo Area.

Cayo Area.
Full day
tour to the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, a 300-square
mile scenic region of pine forests, tumbling streams, lush river
valleys and numerous caves and waterfalls. See Hidden Valley
Falls (a narrow chute of water falling l,000 feet), Rio On Cave
and weather permitting, Rio On Pools. Return to your hotel for

DAY 3:
Cayo Area/Macal lRiver/Cahal Pech/Panti Medicinal Plant
Trail/Belize
Morning
departure for a short ride to venue where you board your canoe
for a tour of the Macal River en route to the Panti Medicinal
Plant Trail, to view the plants and herbs used by the ancient
Mayas. After lunch you are on your way to Cahal Pech Maya site
followed by continuation drive to Belize City with drop-off at

for a full day trip to South Water Caye for snorkeling including
a visit to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary at Man-O-War Caye. Return

leisure to stroll around the town of Dangriga to visit local
artisan shops and the small Garifuna village museum. Transfer
to Gales Point Manatee to board a river boat transfer which will

Arrival meet and greet service and transfer to Belize City area

Xunantunich / Cayo Area.
Morning
departure up the Western Highway. First stop is the wildlife
habitat known as the Belize Zoo for an introduction to the
country's diverse fauna. Jaguars, tapirs, toucan and jabirus
are but a few of the exotic species for photo opportunities. We
then head to the San Ignacio area for lunch stop at local
restaurant. After lunch we head towards the Western border of
Belize where you board a 19th century hand-cranked ferry which
takes you across the Mopan River. The Maya ruins of Xunantunich
are actually located on one of the highest plateaus in the area
and it is possible to climb to the top of "El Castillo", the
largest of the temples at this site. From this vantage point
one gains a panoramic view of the Cayo District and nearby
Guatemala, and breath-taking scenery of untouched jungles.
After tour we take a short drive to your hotel for dinner and
accommodations at Cayo area hotel.(L/D)

Morning
departure Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve which is teeming
with hills, valleys, rivers
and
falls, swimming holes and caves all surrounded by the majestic
beauty of pine forests. Our three main stops are the Rio Frio
Caves, the 1000-ft Falls (road conditions permitting), and a
chance to cool off in the cool waters of the Rio On Pools.

DAY 4: Cayo Area / Macal River / Cahal
Pech / Panti Medicinal Plant Trail / Belize City.

departure for short drive to point where you board a motorized
canoe for a tour
of the
Macal River en route to the Panti Medicinal Trail. Along the
limestone cliffs of the River you look for parrots, toucans and
iguanas, as they hang precariously from the trees alongside the
river. At the Panti Maya Medicinal Trails your guide will point
out plants and herbs still used by Belizeans for medicinal
purposes. After lunch you start your return to Belize City with
a stop at the Cahal Pech Maya Ruins. There you can see a small
archeological site with corbel arch rooms that date back to 1000
B.C. Continuation drive to Belize City with return by 4:30p.m.
